GRAN CANARIA ADVENTURE #3

Well, not feeling well today so stayed home and close to the bathroom. Watched a documentary on Harry and Meghan. Interesting. Race raised its ugly head. Shannon left me a salad which tasted good. Had a nap. Took a shower and put on clean clothes. Tomorrow is Shannon’s birthday. Have to finish her book.

Today is Shannon’s birthday!! So happy to be here with her. Made a special book of photos and poems for her. Rick and I went for a walk Watched the surfers. The ocean is beautiful! Came back, had lunch and took a nap.

Raining! Windy! Today Shannon came home and took me to lunch. She went back to school and I took a nap, which felt good. On December 22 she had Xmas vacation for 2 weeks and I go back to Seattle Jan 8.

Alarm awoke me at 8am. Feel like I didn’t sleep! My back hurts and I’m groggy. Tonight is the Xmas program for Shannon’s school. Looking forward to it. Rick’s here and we are going to Breakfast. Cloudy and cool

Same day, 10:40am

The beautiful housekeeper is here. Rick took me to breakfast. A nice walk and good to go somewhere different. Windy near the ocean. The cleaner sweeps the floor with a broom, not a vacuum cleaner. The floors are slate. Guess it makes sense. Had a typical breakfast of 2 fried eggs, cheese, Spanish ham and rye bread with crushed tomatoes. Lots of surfers outside the Surf School. Amazing that there were several kinds of pancakes on the breakfast menu.

The school Xmas program was fabulous last night! It was held in a theater in downtown Las Palmas. The music teacher id a fantastic job creating and directing 125 students on stage. It was fun and active. After the show we went to the Madrid Cafe for something to eat and drink. We got home about 10:30. Shannon and Rick are going out with friends tonight, but I don’t want to go. It’s too much.

Surprise! I ended up with 102 degree fever last night. Went from cold to hot and back. Restless sleep. This morning it was 100. Feel exhausted. Shannon called Heather so I will have to call her later today. Still don’t feel right but I took a shower and got dressed. Not sure how long I will last.

Well I was introduced to the Spanish medical system today and it passed with flying colors. Went to a clinic and saw a woman doctor. I’m now on Amoxicillin for 7 days, with mouth wash and Tylenol. Then we will see a dentist. I feel more relaxed knowing that a solution is at hand. Shannon and Rick have been so patient and helpful. I couldn’t have done it without them.
